Formal dinner at the Palace

On Wednesday night there was a formal dinner at Stowe House as part of the Open Palace Programme. Everyone dressed in formal attire, and gathered in the Blue Room (a room aptly named because the walls are light blue, with paintings and gold decoration). The photo below shows the south view from the house.

When I was in Bath, I found a light blue suit jacket in an op shop so I wore this.

The menu consisted of:

A Trio of Melon with Redcurrants,
And a Cucumber and Mint Dressing

Roast Best End of Lamb
With a Rocket and Pinenut Salad
Jersey Royal New Potatoes

Stowe Mess
Coffee and Dinner Mints

Stowe Mess (above) comprising of icecream, meringue, strawberries and blueberries

After dinner we all gathered on the steps to get group photos taken.

Then some of us went around to the back of the house for a walk in the gardens and took more photos. The back of the house lit up at night was amazing. I think this was definitely the highlight of the program so far.
