Colleges in Cambridge

I travelled with my friend James to Cambridge where he showed me around the various colleges. He studied at Jesus College so we went to that one first and he showed where his residence was. Then we walked around Sidney Sussex College, and Kings College. In Kings College there is a painting by Ruebens of the Adoration of the Magi, the wise men visiting newborn Jesus (below). We saw people in their gowns about to graduate.

After lunch, we headed out again and went to a Polar Antarctic Museum. It had artefacts from expeditions including snow boots and gear, and also a library with many books including a section on Ernest Shackleton. Two of the artefacts on display was a flag that was flown from Shackleton's ship and the last surviving relic, a mast, from his ship 'The Enhancer'.
After that we had a quick look at the Fitzwilliam Museum which was similar to the British Museum in a way in that it had a large variety of objects. It included paintings by Claude Monet, Georges Seurat and Van Gogh.
There was also an exhibition on Indian coins.
The next interesting activity for the day was punting on the River Cam. My friend and I took turns punting - it was quite tough especially working out how to rotate the boat. The added difficulty was the number of bridges which we had to navigate under. At one point we got stuck in the branches of a willow tree overhanging the river. Overall it was a good thing to experience.
The day ended with some relaxation having pizza and playing Settlers of Catan.
